I will rack your brains though - did you use any sort of pattern and alter it? I'm probably going to have the hardest time with the vest me thinks. Pattern maker I'm not, but I can alter a pattern accordingly I reckon. The shorts I've seen a pattern for, and I can probably figure out the cloak. I'll take any tips you're willing to throw at me!
Sorry, I don't use patterns so I can't point you to a good one. I guess any vest would be a good starting point, though. As a tip, don't make the hood to small like mine (or well, I just wish I made it a little bigger)
I need your help! Oh allmighty successfull cosplayer. I'm doing a cosplay for a con in say...3 months. I need help, how did you do the bodice,and other general supposibly leather parts? I don't think i'm doing the ordinary one as i have the underwhirt and it's a tunic, so i'll be doing the other kind, any help? pwease?
(photo is one to the right of normal smuggler) [link]
Haha It's probably quite obvious when I started making the Smuggler there were just two images! XD
I've never seen that artwork, and I can't remember her having those 'flaps' in game? Ah well, either way, the 'leather' bits are actually pleather (fake leather), which I came across once, years back, used for pants for Remus from Undead Knights, then cut up for Lia... weird, I know, but it was the perfect colour and look I was going for... I used ribbon and bias tape (?? Not sure if that's the right name for it in English, but it's what pops up if I google it!) for the golden details on it.
If you need any specific help, please shout. Sadly I never use patterns or I'd share them! ^_^;
This is an amazing cosplay, I love the detail!! I love the Smuggler, shes my fave too But I'm curious to know how long it took to make and how difficult it was to do? (bcz I'm thinking of cosplaying her for a con, which is a few months away). The cosplay world needs more Lia's! XD
This took me quite a while, but if you still have some months left I'm sure you can do it! I guess it was 50+ hours or so in the end. I wouldn't say it's difficult, but it's not a walk in the park either. If you have any questions, let me know. Sadly I don't use patterns, or I'd share them.
I shall. I have to get a camera first, 'cause mine broke, but I'll post a picture of the whole costume once I get it done. I'm starting my work on it in about three weeks. But I have to sew it by hand, so it will take a while.
Both costumes can and probably will be quite expensive (as I'm in the progress on making a Hellequin as well)
I think for the Smuggler (without boots and wig, as I already had those) the total would be.. somewhere between 80-90 euros 110-125 dollar (give or take) Hellequin has been a bit cheaper, but still at a 70-80 euro (90-105 dollar) and this all depends on if you find fabric as cheap as possible or not.
I hope this somewhat helps you save enough money! ^_^ (please keep in mind, it all depends on how much fabric usually costs in the USA compared to Europe! >.<
Wow.. this is a really great photo. <3 You look beautiful once again. And here you can see all the details and all those edges quite nicely. Your outfit looked so amazing at Tsunacon. I was in total awe by it. Now I really want to make an Assassins Creed cosplay as well. xD Everytime I see you walking with one I'm just stunned by how awesome it looks and how much it seems like you just came walking out of the game. xD It's amazing!!!
